Letting You Go

Well, that time finally came to send my baby off to college. It was about 11:00 pm the night before and I was packing the truck in the dark when she walked under the garage light and I lost it! I couldn’t stop crying while she held me like I was the child. The next month there was an emptiness in our home that left a lump in my throat.
Kati, I miss you and I love you so very much.

Letting You Go Lyrics

I’ve got these photographs
That dance in my head
Your very first day in school
You were all dressed in plaid

Your mother and I
We cried our way home
And here we are crying again
Here you are grown

CHORUS:
And I’ll need some help
Letting you go
And I’ll need some time
But look how it’s flown
What did I think
That you wouldn’t grow?
That you wouldn’t sprout
wings
And take off and go?
We’ve worked hard for this
I know you’ll do well
It just came so fast
So I’ll need some help
Letting you go

Your little arms clung to me
Daddy, don’t work today
I can still see you twirling
and twirling
I can still hear you say
Daddy, look at me dancing
Do you see my dress?
Do you think I’m beautiful?
Oh, yes, Kati, yes!

CHORUS:
I’ll need some help
Letting you go
And I’ll need some time
But look how it’s flown
What did I think

That you wouldn’t grow?
That you wouldn’t sprout
wings
And take off and go?
We’ve worked hard for this
I know you’ll do well
It just came so fast
So I’ll need some help

BRIDGE:
Letting you go will be hard
So don’t stay too long
No matter what or when
This will always be home

CHORUS:
I’ll need some help
Letting you go
I’ll need some time
But look how it’s flown
What did I think
That you wouldn’t grow?
That you wouldn’t sprout
wings
And take off and go?
We’ve worked hard for this
I know you’ll do well
It just came so fast
So I’ll need some help
Letting you go
Letting you go

    Hi Chuck !

Remember me? (Formerly, Becky Lacey, Debbie's sister.) OMG, I just listened to "Letting You Go". I Love your music! The lyrics really touched me. I feel this way about Brian. He just graduated from college in May, and now starting life in this mean, cruel world. The words of this song truly bring back those memories of him being "My little boy" playing in the back yard, climbing trees, catching toads, exploring the great outdoors! I miss him so Much! I don't think I will EVER be able to completely Let him go. I just pray for God to guide him and give him direction in this life. Thank you for allowing others to be blessed through your music. God has truly given you a "Gift". I will be listening to more of your songs, that's for sure. Thanks Chuck! God Bless, Becky
